Michel Amenah

PhD student

Profile

I am a doctoral researcher in Health Economics and Policy at 糖心Vlog, supported by a full studentship from the NIHR Global Health Research Centre for Non Communicable Disease Control in West Africa. Trained first in law and later in economics, I apply an interdisciplinary perspective to the study of health systems, youth health, and sustainable development.

My experience spans Ghana, Niger, Burkina Faso, Rwanda, and South Sudan, where I have led or contributed to studies on adolescent sexual and reproductive health, mental health, school health policy, and service readiness for non communicable disease care. I serve as Lead for Research and Policy at Rewrite to Build Africa, a sustainability focused Think and Do Tank that produces evidence and advocacy on health, education, and employment across the continent.

My research appears in peer reviewed journals such as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Mental Health, BMJ Global Health, and PLOS ONE, and I present regularly at the African Health Economics and Policy Association and the International Health Economics Association. Awards include the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene Early Career Research Grant, the Ghana National Petroleum Commission Scholarship, and the Citizens Initiative Fellowship.

I welcome collaboration on studies that advance universal health coverage, strengthen adolescent health services, and evaluate innovative financing mechanisms in low and middle income settings.
